Annually, more than 1.3 billion tons of food are thrown away worldwide, and 250,000 tons in Serbia. Along with irrational consumption, there is also unreasonable production – in 1990, 8.1 tons of natural resources were used to meet the needs of one person, while 12 tons were required in 2015.
The 2030 Agenda anticipates halving food waste and advocating for the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources that is, respecting the time required to renew or develop replacements.
Measures advocated by the 2030 Agenda, such as recycling and management of municipal waste and chemicals, protect the environment, extend the sustainable use of what nature has to offer, affect job creation and reduce inequality at the regional level and within local communities.
