The 10% of the world’s wealthiest people own about 40% of all assets, while the poorest 10% earn only 2-7% and the income inequality gap keeps growing.
The indicator of the Human Development Index considers the gross national income per capita, the number of years spent in education and the life expectancy. Serbia ranked 66th out of 188 countries in this list in 2015. However, unlike the global trend, the difference between the richest and the poorest in Serbia, according to data from 2013 to 2016, has not increased.
As a major means of reducing inequality, both, globally and within local communities and among people, the 2030 Agenda promotes solidarity and maximum inclusion of all people in society and sustainable development. Measures to promote equal opportunities for education and employment, a greater influence of developing countries on international decision-making and migration security are just some of the tools to achieve this.
