Economic growth must also bring decent work, as these two are connected and must be given equal importance and respect, said Nataša Vučković, Secretary General of the Center for Democracy Foundation and member of the Social Pillar of the Sustainable Development for All Platform.

When we talk about development programs for Serbia, our region and, of course, globally, it is important to highlight the importance of other sustainable development goals related to good governance and the development of institutions that serve the needs of citizens, inclusiveness, provide availability of health care, the right to water, environmental protection in various segments…

We continuously deal with the protection and promotion of labor rights in the context of respecting international standards, insisting that the rights related to work make an integral part of human rights and must be equally protected.

The protection of labor rights is also important in the context of Serbia’s accession negotiations with the European Union and the need to harmonize legislation and institutional practice with the standards that exist in the EU, said Vučković at the panel discussion “Contribution of CSOs and trade unions to the rights of workers in supply chains” held on September 8, 2023 in the framework of the meeting “Effective Grievance Mechanisms – Empowering Workers’ Voices in Serbia” organized by GIZ – German Cooperation in Serbia and the Initiative for Global Solidarity.
