On 15 and 16 June 2021, the Social pillar organized a two-day training on localization of Sustainable Development Goals for representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) from the Pirot district.

The training participants were representatives of CSOs, agricultural households, associations of rural women from the Pirot district:  Women’s Association Lav (Lion), Žene juga, Pirgos, Zvono, Vizija, Dekupi Workshop,  Association Izvorsko zrno, Household Veljković Dojkinci, Zlatne ruke, and Vredne ruke.

During the training, the participants had the opportunity to gain new knowledges about the  Sustainable Development Goals and the Development Plan of the city of Pirot. Through the workshops, participants successfully mapped the challenges related to the first five Sustainable Development Goals, linked them with the activities of their CSOs, and identified advocacy initiatives to improve the existing strategic framework. The issue of gender component in local policies, especially the Development plan was raised.

The participants were also presented with the open call for training and mentoring programme for local campaigns. Through the public call, representatives of the Social Pillar will support the implementation of three local advocacy campaigns for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the Pirot district.
