This analysis, prepared by the economic pillar of the “SDGs for ALL” Platform, around mid 2022, includes initiatives and proposals collected during a year-long dialogue with SMEs and other related actors on how much and through which channels SMEs contribute to sustainable development in Serbia and how to strengthen that contribution as much as possible.

The text presents systemic challenges recognized during a broad dialogue that decision-makers should address in order to improve the environment for business and the development of the SME sector. After that, more specific initiatives were proposed in three areas that have been recognized as key to sustainable development of SMEs: 1) capacity building and technological and “green transformation”; 2) education and staff training; and 3) access to financing.
