Smart Kolektiv and the Responsible Business Forum, organizations dedicated to promoting and developing the concept of corporate social responsibility in Serbia, have released the third edition of the ESG/SDG Barometer—a concise guide designed for companies embarking on their sustainability journey.

The ESG/SDG Barometer aims to present the current state and changes in the dynamic business environment    where sustainability is becoming a priority. This informative publication is primarily intended for decision-makers in business organizations as a valuable resource for identifying trends driven by the global wave of sustainability and local specificities. Additionally, the publication highlights the perspectives of the business community and organizations regarding the shared need to improve existing practices and overcome challenges on the path to a better society.

“Already today, and especially in the near future, it will no longer be possible to run a successful business without a strong commitment to sustainable practices. These are the demands and expectations of consumers, as well as future employees. On the other hand, these demands are increasingly becoming legal obligations, especially in EU countries. In this sense, when we say that ‘sustainability is not an option, but the only solution,’ we don’t mean to pressure companies, but rather to emphasize that sustainability is becoming an inseparable part of business,” stated Neven Marinović, Director of Smart Kolektiv and the Responsible Business Forum, in the publication’s foreword.

The ESG/SDG Barometer is the result of an analysis of global trends, research on the attitudes and practices of representatives of the domestic business community, and initiatives from members of the Sustainable Development for All Platform.

Progress is visible, especially in reporting on ESG plans and activities. Besides the companies that have been seriously engaged with sustainability for more than a decade, other large domestic companies are also beginning to prepare their first ESG reports. Clearly defined metrics lead to easier goal setting and better management of these issues,” emphasized Tijana Koprivica, Director of Sustainable Business at Delta Holding and a member of the Responsible Business Forum’s board of directors.

The ESG/SDG Barometer is based on a comparative analysis of global trends and research on the views of leading companies operating in Serbia.
