Rising energy prices, and a drastic jump in electricity and gas prices as of lately, have led to a kind of “energy shock”, leading many to conclude that fossil fuels have no alternative. On the other hand, a number of those who have become even more resolute in advocating for the acceleration of the transition to renewable energy sources is far from being negligible either. Their arguments are based not only on the need to reduce CO2 emissions, but also to reduce dependence on fossil fuel price volatilities. With this article, created within the “SDGs for ALL” Platform, we are trying to answer the question, at least in part, whether it is possible to achieve energy stability and preserve the environment at the same time, thus contributing to the discussion on Serbia’s cleaner energy transition.
