Following the completion of the sustainable development training for upper elementary school students in Čajetina, the same program was launched in Užice on November 22nd, at the “Slobodan Sekulić” Elementary School, within the framework of the Green Initiative for the Local Community project. This important project is being implemented by the Zlatiborski Krug Association from Čajetina, in collaboration with the “Opstanak” Teachers’ Association from Užice, and in partnership with the local governments of Užice and Čajetina. The project is being implemented within the Sustainability Fund managed by the Belgrade Open School (BOS) as part of the environmental pillar of the “SDGs for ALL” Platform.

The training takes place through workshops led by biology teachers Aleksandra Popović and Mileva Rogić, with the goal of empowering participants and educational institutions to carry out volunteer and extracurricular activities that contribute to mitigating the negative effects of climate change, in line with environmental protection and sustainable development goals.

The first workshop was attended by 10 female and 7 male 8th-grade students, who gained new knowledge about climate change, its causes, and consequences through interactive activities. According to Mileva Rogić, a representative of the “Opstanak” Teachers’ Association in the project implementation, the students were engaged and active in solving quizzes and creating posters, and the completed evaluation forms indicate a high level of satisfaction with the training.

The next workshop is scheduled to take place at the end of November.
