On November 27th, a public lecture on integrating SDGs into Local Strategic Documents was held at the Regional Center for Professional Development of Employees in Education (RCU) in Užice. The event was organized by the “Opstanak” Teachers’ Association from Užice and the Zlatiborski Krug CSO from Čajetina. The project is being implemented within the Sustainability Fund managed by the Belgrade Open School (BOS) as environmental pillar of the “SDGs for ALL” Platform.

The lecture is part of the Green Initiative for the Local Community project, implemented by the Zlatiborski Krug CSO from Čajetina in collaboration with the “Opstanak” Teachers’ Association from Užice and in partnership with the local governments of Užice and Čajetina. The speaker was Ms. Aleksandra Mladenović, Director of the “Sustainable Development and Environmental Ambassadors” professional association from Belgrade. She discussed advocacy initiatives and actions that contribute to the integration of sustainable development goals into local strategic documents.

The lecture was attended by representatives of civil society governmental organizations, public enterprises, interested citizens, and biology teachers from elementary and secondary schools in Užice. Following the lecture, a discussion was held on the current environmental situation in the city, existing measures for improving it, and their effectiveness. Successful solutions already implemented in developed countries that have embraced the concept of sustainable development were also mentioned.
Project coordinator, Ms. Zorica Milosavljević from Zlatiborski Krug, emphasized the significance of this project for Užice and Čajetina and announced new activities to be implemented in the upcoming period.
