The sustainable development training program for senior elementary school students at “Dimitrije Tucović” School in Čajetina was carried out as part of the Green Initiative for the Local Community project, implemented by the Zlatiborski Krug Association in partnership with the “Opstanak” Teachers’ Association from Užice. The project is being implemented within the Sustainability Fund managed by the Belgrade Open school (BOS) as environmental pillar of the “SDGs for ALL” Platform.

The training for senior elementary school students concluded with the third workshop, held on November 15th in Zlatibor, at a branch of the school. The topic of the third workshop was the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants worked in groups to develop protective measures—focusing on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change—and also finalized the posters they had started during the first and second workshops.

According to Snežana Dogandžić Tučić, the workshop facilitator, the 16 participating students consistently gained new knowledge throughout all three workshops on topics such as climate change, ecological footprint, environmental debt, and carbon footprint measurement. Through interactive and engaging activities, the students contributed to designing actions and measures aimed at reducing the negative impacts of climate change and integrating the SDGs into everyday life.

Participants expressed great satisfaction with the training in the completed evaluation surveys and showed a strong desire and willingness to take part in similar educational programs in the future.
