The training program on sustainable development for older elementary school students at “Dimitrije Tucović” School in Čajetina, as part of the “Green Initiative for the Local Community” project implemented by the Zlatiborski Krug association, continued with the second workshop, held on October 29th in Zlatibor, at a branch of this school.
Following the first workshop, held in mid-October, during which 16 students gained new knowledge about the negative impact of climate change on life on Earth, ecological footprint, and ecological debt, the interactive and engaging work continued, introducing participants to new topics.
The theme of the second workshop was the carbon footprint as a measure of the effects of climate change. In group work, students identified the negative consequences of climate change and discussed possible solutions to mitigate those effects.
According to Snežana Dogandžić Tučić, the workshop facilitator, the participants were inspired and motivated, completing the tasks they had received at the previous workshop, and continued to work effectively both in groups and individually.
The goal of this training is to strengthen educational institutions to implement volunteer and extracurricular activities that contribute to gaining knowledge about climate change, sustainable development goals, and environmental protection.
